A-Z Book Survey
Author(s) You’ve Read the Most Books Of:
Douglas Adams, Isaac Asimov, Madeleine L’Engle, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Stephen King
Best Sequel Ever:
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish (which isn’t technically a sequel but hey, whatever)
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, The Dig by Michael Siemsen, Mobile Suit Gundam by Yoshiyuki Tomino, Helen & Troy’s Epic Road Quest by A. Lee Martinez, and Haunted on Bourbon Street by Deanna Chase
Drink of Choice While Reading:
Beer, coffee, water, coke – anything really
E-Reader of Physical Book:
I prefer physical books but am trying to embrace e-reading
Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Dated in High School:
Cal Leandros, Tristan Thorn, or Hamlet
Glad You Gave This Book a Chance:
The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. It is not my genre of choice at all but it has become one of my favorite books.
Hidden Gem Book:
Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins; it’s a quirky read that had me thinking for days.
Important Moment in Your Reading Life:
The summer I was allowed to ride my bike to the library across town. It was the first time I was able to browse the shelves alone. I ventured from the Children’s section into the YA and Adult sections throughout that summer. As a result I learned the world was much bigger than I had ever dreamed. That was also the summer I discovered Isaac Asimov ^_^
Go Down Together: the True Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde by Jeff Guinn
Kind of Books You Won’t Read:
I’ll read anything, really. I’m not a big fan of FanFic and most erotica makes me giggle like a twelve year old, though.
Longest Book You’ve Ever Read:
Not 100% sure but think it would be a toss-up between The Stand uncut, Shogun, or Gone With the Wind. I read them all as hard-covers and each weighed a ton!
Major Book Hangover Because Of:
<Hangs head in shame> Twilight – don’t judge
Number of Bookcases You Own:
All of our cases are currently in storage and I only have one tiny cupboard of books. I think we have 6 or 7 bookcases though and I know the entire back wall of the storage unit is floor to ceiling boxes of books
One Book You’ve Read Multiple Times:
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams but I read lots of books multiple times
Preferred Place to Read:
Anywhere – I even have several books downloaded to my phone so I always have something to read.
Quote That Inspires You:
“I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.” – Douglas Adams
The entire poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost
Cassandra Clare – I wish I had never given her any money
Series You Started and Need to Finish:
Patricia Brigg’s Mercy Thompson series and the Dresden series by Jim Butcher; unfortunately, I can only get through four or five books of a series before I need a break and a different author.
Three of Your All-Time Favorite Books:
It is crazy hard to narrow it down to just 3 but I guess if I was sucked into a parallel world with only 3 books they would be Romeo & Juliet, I, Robot and Elegant Universe
Unapologetic Fangirl For:
Mangas – specifically Inuyasha, Chibi Vampire, and Soul Eater (But there are soooo many others)
Very Excited for This Release Over All Others:
Orison by Daniel Swensen and the next Dead Sea Games by J. Whitworth Hazzard. I heard a rumor that Paula McLain is working on another book featuring Madam Curie which I am also super excited to see come out.
Worst Bookish Habit:
Using anything as a bookmark because I lose mine in books that have been re-shelved.
X Marks the Spot – Stop at the Top Left of Your Shelf & Pick the 27th Book:
I’ll have to use GoodReads for this since I can’t fit 27 books in my current cupboard (no matter how hard I try)
Blackout by Connie Willis
Your Latest Book Purchase:
The Night Circus
Zzzzzzz…. The Last Book That Kept You Up Way Too Late:
The Night Circus; the writing style is hard to get used to but the story has me staying up way past my normal pumpkin turning times.
